Small Beginnings

In quietness and solitude
the humble seed begins it's life
With warmth and darkness muffling
the gentle wind from emerald seas

A mighty urge grows stronger now
Within it's core so firm below
And spreading out it's awkward arms
It seeks to find it's destiny

Ever still the seed moves on
By stretching sturdy tendrils up
to reach the blazing light above
immersing in it's energy

At last the moment has arrived
to break the surface of the clay
The shock of daylight hits the seed
A heady surge of ecstasy

The solid roots now flourishing
as leaves and stems luxuriate
in hues of lime and ruby red
Unaware of it's immensity

The shadows now beneath it's boughs
Give rest to earth, and now allow
a weary head to lean upon
the peace, a perfect remedy
