In the steel blue light,
snowflakes glide purposefully down,
like a giant sky salt shaker
tossing cold drops of frozen rain
that stick to my lashes and cheeks.
There is no sound, except for my heavy breathing
and the creaking of the snow under our bicycle tires.
I pedal harder to follow you, knowing that the faster we go,
the sooner we will reach the warmth of candlelight and feather duvets.
In the meantime, I enjoy the stillness of a winter night,
creating this new memory with you.
